One of a fine trilogy

Posted : 10 years, 7 months ago on 11 September 2013 04:02 (A review of Iron Man 3)

It's weird, the movie starts without the opening credits. Soon it begins you will forget everything but the only focus on the movie and the story. Like other two 'Iron Man' I liked this third movie as well but this movie was a little lacked in high-octane action stunts. But still no short for an entertainment.

'Iron Man 3' one of a most anticipated movie of the year. I still don't understand this movie and 'Avenvegers' are connected or separate stream stories because Tony behaves like there's one like he suffers from post traumatic stress disorder. Anyway this movie was a bit more dramatised than stunts, it tells his earlier time mistake which creates a deadly enemy for the present. I always wondered such a good actress, Gwyneth Paltrow, appearances in earlier two movies were so wasted. At least she gets some improvise role here, maybe we can expect more from her in the next movie in the series I guess.

I totally loved the Ben Kingley's cameo though I easily guessed the twist on his role. More or less this movie's success made 'Iron Man' trilogy to one of a fine trilogy ever. A good movie to watch once, especially if you ever liked 'Iron Man' duology or any other sci-fi- action movies.

8/10

Every secs counts when u r protecting ur loved 1

Posted : 10 years, 7 months ago on 6 September 2013 01:52 (A review of Mommo)

One of the best children's movie alongside hundreds of them I loved. Most of you are already could have seen Majid Majidi's 'Children of Heaven' and 'Children of Invention', this movie was kinda close to these two titles in brother-sister combo. Yes it was about two kids whose mother died very recently and their father got remarried to another woman who has a boy in the same age. Now these kids live in their old and widowed Grandfather's house who has been unable to protect them forever. So they should protect each others from outside world evil especially the elder one should take more responsibility.

The kids were cute, their performances were magnificent, to see their struggle will make us intolerable by our tendered heart. There were no any complicated story, it was very simple like daily life stuff that used to happen in a small place like this. The country was kinda dry but beautiful, it was all camera magic, the places were utilised very wisely for the story.

This movie might tell about two Turkish kids but there's no difference in the struggle in life for little kids whose parents are not there for them when they needed it badly. In other parts of the world even in improved countries, theirs remote places like this movie kids are suffering from the same issue. I had seen some of Turkish movies and this one was one of the best from them. A must see movie and highly recommended.

What can make a friendship fall apart. An affair?

Posted : 10 years, 7 months ago on 6 September 2013 01:48 (A review of Ginger & Rosa)

Well the movie is about two teenage girls from London, Ginger and Rose, who are very close since their birth. They share everything, talk and discuss about stuffs, partying, sex, roaming everywhere and late night home comers, overall in one word they are inseparable. But destiny is envious of their bond and won't let em live like that forever.

The movie is partially divided into two different stories in parallel stream of story telling. One was a family affair and the other one was a nuclear missile crisis. The blend was super between these two, one after another scene to scene changes the story's depth and notion.

Elle Fanning and the new girl Alice Englert from New Zealand, both were good enough for the respective roles. I liked Timothy Spall's tiny role, it was very handy for the movie. And other too were given very decent performances.

The movie had a fair and substantial amount of scenes that make us interest on it. It will also make bore for certain audience who are not comfortable for slow in pace. The tale was clear on the complex of the teenager's desire from the 1960s, so be aware of theme before choosing to watch it. For me it was a simple and okayish movie.

Sometime anybody is old enough to make a dicision

Posted : 10 years, 7 months ago on 6 September 2013 01:45 (A review of What Maisie Knew)

The movie was based on the century old novel but this adaptation set in modern-day New York City. It was perfectly transformed from 100 years old culture and lifestyle to present era.

It tells the story of a little girl called Maisie who notices his parents' irresponsible behavior towards her which leads to make her own decision for the future of her own. The kid was so adorable and her splendid performance made the movie one of a best adoption and justice to the book though I haven't read it.

At first glance I thought the character Lincoln was a pervert because I was not aware of the tale what it's all about but later turned out one of the unique and best story. And same goes to the character Margo as well. It was not your usual drama, it was about a kid whose life slowly falling apart because of her parents inadvertence. Her bravery like an adult makes key to the bright future. It was a nice movie about parenting errors, this kinda stuffs happening everywhere in the world, hope this movie will be an eye opener of the parents like the kid from this movie. As per the entertainment it was a little draggy other than that it was a absolutely important message tale.

Little Nicolas and co plans a big.

Posted : 10 years, 7 months ago on 3 September 2013 07:03 (A review of Little Nicholas)

The movie was so cute and fun. It has been 4 years since it was released and I wonder where is its sequel, because this movie deserves one or maybe those who loved it will anticipate like I do. The characters were very well created and developed, the timing of jokes was excellent. When I saw Kad Merad on the first frame of his appearance in this movie, I could not control myself from laughing and knew it would be an awesome and I gonna have a nice time with it. And I did.

This movie was based on a series of French children's books. It reminds me 'Diary of a wimpy kid', about a kid who had his own imagination and mistook the occasion he witnessed with his parents which makes him to act quickly to make it right. So the little Nicolas forms a little gang from his school friends and theirs adventure is ours (audience) fun ride.

As a children movie fan I loved it from my heart and wanted more of it which was lasted for just 90 minutes. Watching a movie like it make me a kid, sometime it will recall my childhood memories. I feel I am so lucky to see it and hope you won't miss after reading this review.

Precious message from the middle-east.

Posted : 10 years, 7 months ago on 3 September 2013 07:02 (A review of Where Do We Go Now?)

It was a nice movie, the message was really good. The movie deals with the issue of religious conflict in the country Lebanon. The story happens in a small town where Christians and Muslims lives together with good bond while the rest of the country in religious tension.

This kind of movies definitely required to open the eye of the people. It was a very good effort by the 'Caramel' actress-come-director. The movie was not that serious but little funny alongside the issue it digs. The end was a bit emotional and heartbreaking, overall the movie makes sense of what it delivers to the audience but some people are not ready to accept the fact or ready to make a change in society.

It was represented the Lebanon's submission for the 2012 OSCAR but did not make into the shortlist. I have seen movies based on religious theme like the movie 'Bombay' so this movie requires a special appreciation for the great effort from the middle east. We know that the women and children are the future of humankind and so this story explains a tiny part of that.

A man from Japan you must know

Posted : 10 years, 7 months ago on 3 September 2013 01:54 (A review of Zen (2009))

Just said wow after a watch, this was the true masterpiece. One of a must see biography movie from Japan. This movie is more than entertainment, about life, faith, honesty. It sets in time 12th century when Japan is obsessed with the evil power by the strong and powerful samurais where poor people pays for it when they are suffering from poverty.

It was the story of Dogen Zenji, a Japanese monk who brought the true Buddhism to his country. You might remember the Indian monk Bodhidharma, father of Shaolin who passed Hindu herbal medicine system and martial arts to China. In this case it was like similar quest by an another person from the Japan. The movie tells a young man from Japan travel to China in order to find and learn the true Buddhism and take back to his country to spread it among his people.

The movie was inspiring, Dogen Zenji is one of a great man lived on the earth. I am not a religious type but I liked this movie very much. This movie might be about Buddhism but there is a lot everyone to learn from it. You no need to travel to India to discover yourself, this life story of Zen master Dogen will teach something good. Some scenes and its meanings were so good especially when Dogen handles his ruler (king) and when he sends a mother of a dying baby to everyone's house in the village. Hope you will love it as much I did.

It crowded with costume heroes who're not super

Posted : 10 years, 7 months ago on 3 September 2013 01:53 (A review of Kick-Ass 2)

I took time to review this movie after the watch. This movie was not what I expected, you know what the first installment was better than this sequel. This 'Kick-ass 2' had so many jokes which are adult comedies, sometime those were too disgusting especially the puking one, ew. Don't forget the powerful gangster Mark Strong, the villain of the first movie, that led the movie to its success. But in this part, there are many villains and too weak in strength, I think except the 'Mother Russia'. And other villains are hyped too much for their strength in the intro then they were no way near to as what they were supposed to. Too many bad words used in this movie compared to first which makes not a family and kids friendly movie, just like the 'Scary movie'. Of course it was R rated movie, just for your information.

The Jim Carrey's role was small but liked though expected lots more from him. When it comes to the story, it was not that great but okayish type, remember I loved first part story very much. 'Kick-Ass' was one of my favourite action movie, the end fights were breathtaking especially the bazooka and flying thing they used. In this story there are too many characters that use superhero costumes and too many superhero names which sometimes looks like some Halloween party. The main character 'Kick-Ass' was slightly disappears when other costume characters in action, that's so disappointing. On the other side of the story the 'Hit-Girl' meets 'Mean Girls' and that's an off the track of what this movie is supposed to be. Chloe was excellent, she was a little girl at first, now in this she has grown up and for the next she will be a woman. There was no time for character developments, totally randomized in its appearances, except the Mindy who gets the cooled portion of the movie but slightly drags her role with 'Mean Girls' stuff.

We can say this movie is kind of an American version of 'Crow Zero' with men and women in fancy dresses. This movie keeps you alive because of its adult comedies and of course the awesome stunts. I liked the movie but not as much of its first part. I felt somewhere between two movies the bridge misled us. Better the third one should be very appropriate for its title. I'll tell something that this movie will definitely entertain you, no doubt about that but it won't be your favourite product of the year. It is hard to recommend it for one, like I said if you need entertainment then go for it but don't expect like the first, it was more like a youngster's movie.

Pick one, marriage or career?

Posted : 10 years, 7 months ago on 2 September 2013 06:49 (A review of Sleepwalk with Me)

A funny little movie about a man who suffers from a sleepwalk disorder. The story tells his struggle to hold love and career life together while one turns to be a disaster and another one successful.

Well the story was a bit uncatchy in opening few minutes because the man of the movie, Matt Pandamiglio, tells his earlier life story while recording it into a camera which looks like some documentary. That makes totally unaware of the situation of the tale intended to but later it turned out to be a nice one. The character Matt, sometimes turns to be a nerd and sometimes make us feel fond on him for his innocence. I was little confused for the randomness of his character. Realised that was the motive created by the writer to make the viewers to go gaga over the destination of the tale.

In the movie I liked many individual scenes like Matt jumping out of the window, especially all the sleepwalk scenes. It was a simple story, it was not intended to hurt anybody emotionally from the romantic side of the tale but the line the Matt says at the end of the movie makes really sweetfully hurt. That one line makes the movie worth giving another rating star or point.

I never knew before this director-come-actor, Mike Birbiglia. This movie was loosely based on his own life story, he did a good job as his first directional venture as well first major role in a movie. Hope he to become next Mark Duplass. The movie should reach to every movie buff around the world because it was one of a fine independent comedy. You will like it if you ever liked 'Safety not Guaranteed' or 'Ruby Sparks', recommended to watch once.

Barafundle Bay, a beautiful place to expose yourse

Posted : 10 years, 7 months ago on 2 September 2013 06:19 (A review of Third Star)

Not so long ago I saw another British children's movie called 'Ways to live forever'. What I was gonna say is this movie was kinda same but belongs to adult men. I have read somewhere online that a British newspaper quoted about it 'Facing death like men: with beer, jokes and a holiday', yes it was the movie will give you joyful time you spend for it simultaneously will break the heart. A true friendship movie which had an adventurous quest, the characters reveal their true nature while they all different from each other but one gang. When they came to know each other what happen between their long term relationship is lay on the question mark.

The story follows when four friends take a camping trip to a coastal region called Barafundle Bay. While the journey bit by bit everything starts to reveal behind their trip which includes love, friendship and sometime pain. What comes at the twilight of the story was the emotional tale. The places where the movie takes were breathtaking and stunningly captured on camera.

The screenplay was well written, the movie kick starts slowly without much development to what's going on, then constantly picks up the pace towards its destined. Phase by phase it often delivers some laughing out loud comedies to not to fall on boredom side.

Couple of mysterious characters enters into the story, one was a winged boy like an angel and another one was a man on his quest to expose what he heard from someone who lost it. These two makes temptation on quick turn and twist to the story which was already in constant flow. It all brings the surreal to keep things moving and make audience to keep guessing on what's coming next. Believe me you don't wanna miss this movie, I know it was not a masterpiece but a pleasant surprising tale about four guys.
